Colombian three-piece and Afrofuturism flagbearers Ghetto Kumbé present “Sola”, the second single from their eponymous debut album, to be released by ZZK Records on July 31, 2010.
In an age when the world has come to a standstill, with everyone locked down with the frustration of an unpredictable future, Ghetto Kumbé embark on an astral journey, giving your being wings to escape from this nightmare of chaos and oppressive feelings.
“Sola” is a song that blows your mind, transforming it into something as light as the wind breaking the waves, blowing through mountains and dreams, free of fear and free from this crumbling world.
Singer and front man Edgardo Garcés “Guajiro” says “Sola” is a way of saying that we have to get rid of all the bad stuff we carry inside. “It’s about learning to live with all that, because time passes. Everything we keep inside, those negative feelings and thoughts, you have to let them fly away too.”
With a rhythmic base created from digging deep into traditional African music, the sounds of the diaspora and electronic music, Ghetto Kumbé keep taking over the dance floors around the world, positioning themselves as one of the key bands in the Afrofuturist sound.
